Biography
William Joseph Hobbs, son of John Wesley Hobbs and Martha Ann (Rowe) Hobbs, was born in Lincoln County, Tennessee{[citation needed}} in 1863, residing there with his family.[1] In 1880, Joe and his family lived in Somerville, Alabama.[2]
Joe married Mary Etta (DeFoe) Hobbs, marrying in Wayne County, Tennessee on February 5, 1891[3] and having nine known children together. They made their home in Justice Precinct 2 of Edwards County, Texas, farming,[4] and in Justice Precinct 2 of Ellis County, Texas, Palmer Township.[5][6]
Widowed in 1923, in 1930, Joe lived in Palmer Township with his son, Floyd, who was also widowed, and his children.[7] Joe Hobbs passed away in Dallas, Texas[8] at the age of 98 and and is buried at Palmer Cemetery in Palmer, Texas.[9]
