Biography
Birth/Baptism
Magdalena Hof was born on 23 Jun 1844 morning 6 o'clock in Lingelbach as a daughter of Anton Hof and his wife Elisabetha nee Braun. She was baptized ibidem on 6 Jul 1844. Her godmother was Magdalena, wife of George Riffer from Berfa, nee Braun.[1]
Emigration
She emigrated from Hamburg on 28 Aug 1872 on board of the Westphalia to America. Here she is 28 years old, is called Marie Hof and her place of origin is Lingelbach.[2]
She arrived on 11 Sep 1872 New York.[3]
She left for America on the same ship and at the same time as her future husband. It is not known whether they first met on the ship or were perhaps already engaged beforehand. The birth of daughter Anna Mary on 23 May 1873 suggests that she may have been conceived on this trip.

She married on 10 Nov 1872 in South East Hope Township Conrad Helwig.[4]
