Biography

Kenneth John Raey Ritchie Hogan was born on 9 June 1928. He was the son of Mona Ellen Hogan, and his father was apparently John Rae Ritchie (or Raey). Kenneth was apparently brought up by his maternal grandparents, and was listed among his grandmother Ellen's children in her death notice.

On 31 August 1952, he was injured when riding as a pillion passenger on a motorcycle which collided with a car at the intersection of Burnside and Russley roads in Christchurch. The motorcyclist, Henry Andrew Newman, a printer's machinist, was killed. Kenneth was residing at 683 Worcester Street, his grandparents' residence.

He married Melva Joyce Moher, and they had 4 children.

In 1985, they were residing at 54 Ashley St., Rangiora, with Kenneth's aunt Dulcie. Dulcie passed away on 16 June 1985, leaving them her property at Patersons Inlet, Stewart Island.

He passed away on 24 February 2004, aged 75. He was buried at Memorial Park Cemetery in Christchurch on 27 February with his late wife. He had been a retired book binder.
