Obituary

Mary Hoge Biddle, 93, of Carmichaels, died at 5:30 pm Tuesday, June 8, 1982 in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. She was born March 15, 1889 in Wayne Township, a daughter of Thomas J. and Arabella Stewart Hoge.

In 1919 she married Carl M. Biddle, who died in 1957. Mrs. Biddle graduated from Waynesburg College in 1911 and received her master's degree from Columbia University. She taught at Prosperity and at Washington High School and for many years was a substitute teacher in the Carmichaels area. She had resided in Carmichaels since 1919.

Mrs. Biddle was a member of the Greene Valley Reformed Presbyterian Church in Carmichaels, the Presbyterian Women's Association, a charter member of the Carmichaels Area Women's Civic Club, a member of the Carmichaels Garden Club, Waynesburg College Alumni Association, Auxiliary to Cumberland Post 400 American Legion at Carmichaels, and a former member of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Kyle A. (Katherine) Nolf of Crafton, Mrs. Margaret Knight of Carmichaels, Mrs. Howard (Estelle) Brandtonies of Scenery Hill and Mrs. Roy C. (Priscilla) Jack of Carmichaels; one son, Arthur Hoge Biddle of Carmichaels; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Four brothers, Guy B., Morgan, Ezra D. and Wayne Hoge are deceased.^[1]
