Thomas was born on 17 Feb 1666 to John Hogsflesh and christened on 24 Feb 1666 in Hambledon, Hampshire, England.

Research Notes

• Checked Sussex Marriage calendar, but no record of the marriage to Elizabeth Lipscome there^[1]. I haven’t seen any original marriage entry to confirm whether the groom’s parish or residence is mentioned, although there are transcriptions on familysearch’s website. I don’t know whether there could be another Thomas Hogsflesh who married Elizabeth Lipscombe, and I have nothing at this point to tie her to the children of Thomas Hogsflesh in Hambledon. I don’t know who originally suggested the marriage, or why. It may or may not be correct.
• I have found a number of births to a Thomas and Elizabeth Hogsflesh with christenings in Iping, Sussex which are consistent with the marriage in Chithurst just a mile away. These are inconsistent with the births in Hambledon, which means there must be a different woman in Hambledon (see the profile of Elizabeth Lipscome for a list of the births which cover a similar time period, but also start earlier, in 1688, and are more consistent with the 1687 marriage. For these reasons, I have removed Elizabeth Lipscome as the mother of the children born to Thomas Hogsflesh in Hambledon.
