Biography

Born in 1875 in Bermondsey, in 1881 Eliza Ann was living with her parents and 5 siblings (she is ultimately 1 of 9) . Her father is a commercial traveller. In 1891 the family are living in the Old Kent Road, an area her fathers family stay in for decades. In 1901 Eliza-Anne's father is a 'general water traveller', and the family have a lodger, one Francis Breton who, along with Eliza Anne's brother Alfred, is a Stevedore's labourer.

Eliza-Ann and Francis marry in 1904 in St Jude, Peckham Southwark, England. Her father Henry is listed as a traveller, but we know this is a salesman, a commercial traveller. The couple go on to have 3 children, a boy and 2 girls. Francis has jobs as as either Stevedore's labourer or Confectioner. Eliza Ann is widowed aged 73 in 1949 and passes away herself in Camberwell 4 years later in 1953.

Francis and Eliza Ann are one of the generation who went through 2 world wars in London

Eliza Ann spent her whole life in Camberwell Camberwell (/ˈkæmbərˌwɛl/) is a district of South London, England, within the London Borough of Southwark. It is located 2.7 miles (4.3 km) southeast of Charing Cross. The name Camberwell was first applied to the Parish of St Giles, Camberwell, which included the village of Camberwell, and the hamlets of Peckham, Dulwich, Nunhead, and part of Herne Hill (the rest of Herne Hill was in the parish of Lambeth).[1] Until 1889, it was part of the county of Surrey. In 1900 the original parish became the Metropolitan Borough of Camberwell.
