Biography

Sergeant Levi Hollingsworth served with Pennsylvania Militia during the American Revolution.

Levi Hollingsworth is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A056648.

Levi Hollingsworth was born in Elkton, Maryland, the son of Zebulon Hollingsworth and Ann Maulden. As a young man he worked with his father in their flour mill. He also captained a sloop and delivered flour to Philadelphia. He moved to Philadelphia where he was captain of the city militia. In 1775 he was sent to Canada to pay the army (as Quaretermaster Sergeant). The city militia served under Washington until the close of the war.

Levi married 10 MAR 1768 to Hannah Paschall. They were the parents of eight children:

• Paschall Hollingsworth & Mary Wilson had one daughter, Emily born 9 JUL 1815 and died 3 AUG 1895, unmarried. She lived for many years in the home of Dr. Caspar Morris.
