Biography
James Hollis was born on 4 March 1838 at Bicester in Oxfordshire. He was the son of George Hollis and his wife Mary. James was baptised at Bicester parish church on 1 April 1838; his parents lived in Sheep Street and his father was a labourer. [1] [2] [3] [4]
In 1851 James Hollis was living in Sheep Street in Bicester with his parents George and Mary and their other children. His age was given as 13, implying a birth date in 1837 or 1838. His birthplace was given as Bicester, Oxfordshire. He was an agricultural labourer. [2]
James Hollis, a labourer, of Bicester Market End, son of George Hollis, labourer; and Harriet Baldwin, of Bicester Market End, daughter of Robert Baldwin, labourer; were married at Bicester parish church on 26 October 1857. [3]
In 1861 James Hollis was living in Field Street in Bicester with his wife Harriett and their children. A child called Eliza Hollis was also living there, as was a lodger called William Baldwin. His age was given as 23, implying a birth date in 1837 or 1838. His birthplace was given as Bicester, Oxfordshire. He was an agricultural labourer. [4]
He died in 1889, at the age of 51. [5]
