Note: Funeral arrangements were pending Wednesday for Morris A. Holloway, 27, of 3211 Grove, and his brother, T/sgt. Davis B.. Holloway of the Station Hospital at Waco Air Base, who were killed in a plane crash near Waco late Tuesday.
The brothers were killed when the air force plane they were flying plowed through some tree tops and burned, the Associated Press said.
Morris Holloway, an engineering student at Southern Methodist University, was a lieutenant in the Alt Force Reserve. Hensley Field officials said he took off in the plane Tuesday on a training flight.He stopped at Waco and picked up his brother, Davis. The two men then flew to San Antonio where they visited with another brother. The crash occurred when the two brothers were returning to Waco. Hensley Field officials said the cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
Morris Holloway is survived by his wife and a son, Jerry, both of Dallas; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Holloway of Roane, Navarro County; a brother, Bryan Holloway in San Antonio, and three sisters. Mr & Kyle Simms of Brownwood, Brown County, and Marzie Holloway and Sue Holloway. both of Roane.
Note: Attained the rank of 2nd Lt. in Air Force during WWII. Inducted 15 Oct 1942. Completed basic flight training at
Merced Army Air Field in CA. Advanced flight training in Pecos TX where he received his silver wings. Trained
fighter pilots. Discharged 8 Nov 1945. Attached to the 2596th Air Reserve Unit at Hensley Field in Dallas at the
time of his death.
Graduated from Powell High School in 1939. Went to some sort of school in Los Angeles and went to work for
Southern Pacific Railroad. A card to Gladys dated 23 Apr 1941 says he has just finished school and gone to work
for S & P.
