Biography
Humphrey Holt was born September 22, 1693. He declared his intentions December 30, 1715, and, probably in 1716, married Abigail Fifield of Hampton.
Humphrey died August 8, 1754, in his sixty-first year.
Probate
In his will written 25 July 1754 (probate 14 October 1754), Humphrey Holt bequeaths to beloved wife Abigail the use of the east room of the new dwelling house, chamber above, and the cellar. There are also specific provisions for her support, a lengthy list which includes eight pounds of good tobacco per year. Oldest son Fifield receives all the lands in Suncook and all the stock of brute creatures. Son William receives five shillings, which together with the tract of land at Lunenburg, constitutes his full portion. Son Humphrey receives five shillings in addition to the £186.13.4 he has received. Son Jonathan receives two shillings in addition to the tract of land in Lunenburg he received. Daughter Mehitable Holt wife of Daniel Holt receives £4 in addition to £9.6.8 she has received. Daughter Shua Holt receives £13.6.8. Clothing is to be divided among his four sons and the household items between his two daughters after the decease of their mother. Son Fifield Holt was named sole executor. Real estate was valued at £265.6.8.[1]
