Biography

EXISTENCE:

Name of Sarah (Holt) Hatstat's father (this Samuel Holt) is found in Sarah's death record.[1] (Death record of daughter, Sarah (Holt) Hatstat.)

BIRTH:

In the U.S. census of 1850, he is recorded as being 64 (or 67) yrs old and born in Massachusetts. The interpreter of the data thinks the 2nd digit in his age is a "4". I cannot be sure it isn't a "7"

EMPLOYMENT:

See 1850 US Census source that says he was a "farmer" then.

MARRIAGE:

CENSUS':

The 1850 US Census of New Salem, Franklin, Massachusetts finds this Samuel Holt at the age of either 64 or 67yrs old and given as a :farmer," born in Massachusetts. He was living there in New Salem with his 67yr old wife, Sarah , two of their children; 27yr old Susan S. and 23yr old Jane M., and a 3yr old female child, unlikely to be his child but who might be a grandchild; 3yr old Laura A.[2]

DEATH:

His own death record (Source 3), gives his date of death and place; it also gives his parent's names and his age at death as (65yrs; 11 months; 6 days) which gave me a more precise dob, (though not an entirely certain) dob.[3]
