Notes
Note N98Christian and his brother-in-law Nels Norby left Siseton SD by train in 1903 for Prince Albert Saak Canada where they were encouraged to live, giving them free land. Later their wives and Christian's four children went by train to Prince Albert wo join them. Helen Holte caught a bad cold on the train which developed into pneumonia. She was in the hospital for 10 days and there she died. After Helen's death, Christian Holte's sister Wilhelmina Holte Norby took baby Ingvold home with her to care for him. When Christian went to get his son, Invold, his sister Wilhelmina talked him into letting her adopt him as she had no children and she told her brother he already had 3 other children to care for.
Christian Holte moved to Edmonton Alta Canada about 1908. In 1910 Christian went to Anderson Indiana where he was ordained as a minister in the Church of God.
Christian's primary occupation was the contracting business he owned. He employed 75- 80 men building in the Edmonton area. His ministry work was a sideline for him. Christian remarried in the fall of 1911 to Helen Christensen. They were married for about 2 years when she died the summer of 1913. Because of the strict rules set down by Christian, his two daughters left the family home when they were about 19 and returned to the USA.
