Thomas Holte Bt is Notable.

Sir Thomas Holte was born about 1571, probably in Duddeston, Warwickshire, England. [1] [2] He was named after his grandfather, Thomas Holte, lord of Aston, a laywer, Justice of Wales, commissioner of the peace for the county of Warwickshire [3][4] [5] [6] and one of Henry VIII's commissioners, overseeing the dissolution of the monasteries in Warwickshire. [4] [6] [7][8]

The Holtes were a prominent and wealthy family, they had held land in Duddeston and Aston, Warwickshire for over a century. [3] [9][1] The family home being Duddeston Hall, a thirteen bedroom, medieval, moated manor house. [8]

Sir Thomas Holte II was the eldest surviving son of Edward Holte MP and his wife Dorothy Ferrers, [1] [10] [11] [12] she was the daughter of John Ferrers of Tamworth castle. [10] [13] [14] [15]

Thomas was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford from 1588 to 1590 [1] [16] and was admitted to the Inner Temple aged 19 years old. [15] [17] [18] He served as Sheriff of Warwickshire from 1599-1600. [19]

Thomas first married Grace Bradburne around 1598, [1] further increasing the families wealth, she was the daughter and heiress of William Bradburne of Hough, Derbyshire. In 1599 Thomas purchased the lay rectory of Aston and later aquired property in Middlesex. [1] [20] With an income of nearly £2,000 a year, Thomas Holte was one of Warwickshire’s leading landowners. [16] [21]

Thomas received the honour of Knighthood April 18, 1603 [2] [11] in Grimstone, Yorkshire as one of the delagates who welcomed King James VI of Scotland as he travelled to London to claim the English throne. [1] [2] [5] [11] [15] [22]

Research Notes

I'm removing the image of Duddeston Hall as this was the home of the Galton family and was built in the 18th century, originally called Duddeston House. The Holte's Duddeston Hall seems to have been demolished in the same century.[23] Whitehouse-2064 11:32, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
