Biography

According to Abraham Honeyman, author of The Honeyman Family, Samuel Honeyman was born in England. Beyond this, he offers little other than the names of two of his children.[1] Samuel's parents are currently unknown.

According to Samuel's Find A Grave: Memorial #158637288, he was born in Carlisle, England, in 1685, but there are no sources to corroborate this. It also lists a burial record from Christ Church of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which it presumes to belong to this Samuel Honeyman, however, there are no details in that record which would constitute such proof. What this burial record does cite is: "Name: Samuel Honeyman, Father: Samuel, Relation: Son, Date: 13 September 1775, Location: Christ Church Burial Ground."[2] And, according to Honeyman, this burial record refers to a Samuel, son of Samuel, son of William, son of our Samuel. In other words, it refers to a great-grandson of our Samuel.[3]

The name of Samuel's wife has appeared (e.g., at FamilySearch) as "Margaret Thurman," but no sources have been provided.

The children of Samuel and Margaret? were:

  1. William Honeyman, born December 2, 1711, in England; married (1), Anne ___; (2), July 27, 1754, Mary Fullerton (or Mary Wilson?); died March 14, 1774, in Philadelphia.[1]
  2. Margaret Honeyman, born ?; married Mr. ____ Streat.[1]
