Jacobus was born in 1802 in Eeklo, County of Flanders, in what is now East Flanders, Belgium.[1][2] He married Joanna Francisca van Bouchaute in 1829 at Lembeke, East Flanders (then the United Kingdom of the Netherlands).[3][4] Their son Joannes Francies was born in Lembeke in 1835.[5] Jacobus passed away in Lembeke in 1879.[6][7][8]
