Biography

Lex Hornemann died as a result of persecution during the Holocaust.

Alexander Hornemann and his brother Eduard were the sons of a couple that worked for Philips. After they were arrested by German authorities, Alexander and his brother Eduard were brought to camp Vught and from there to Auschwitz. In Auschwitz Alexander Hornemann, his brother Eduard and twenty other children were kept apart from other inmates. In November 1944 they were brought to Neuengamme and subjected to medical experiments. On 20 April 1945 they were brought to the Bullenhuser Damm in Hamburg, a former schoolbuilding, and murdered there.
