Biography

James Hoskins was born in Sep 1830 in Onondaga County, New York, United States.

James W Hoskins married Henrietta Cuddeback on 4 Sep 1851.[1] She died in 1854.

Esther Stoner and James H Hoskins were married 22 Feb 1855.

In 1860 he was living at 4th Ward City of Auburn, Cayuga, New York.[2] The household included James H Haskins 31, Esther C Haskins 32, Juliet J Haskins 8, and James H Haskins 0. James was a saddle and harness maker.

In 1865 he was living in Auburn, Cayuga, New York.[3] The household included James H Hoskins 34, wife Esther C Hoskins 35, daughter Julia Ette Hoskins 12, and son Jas H Hoskins 5. James had been married twice. Esther had been married once and was the mother of 1 child. James was a carriage trimmer.

In 1870 he was living in Auburn, Cayuga, New York.[4] The household included George Shakelton 43, Sarah Shakelton 39, James Hoskins 39, Hester C Hoskins 41, Juliette Hoskins 18, and James H Hoskins 10. James was a life and fire insurance agent.

In 1880 he was living in Auburn, Cayuga, New York.[6] The household included James Hoskins 50, wife Esther Hoskins 50, son James Hoskins 20, other U. S. Beebe 45, and other George Shackleton 50. James was selling insurance and real estate. Son James was a bookkeeper.

In 1900 he was living in Auburn, Cayuga, New York.[7] The household included James Hoskins 70, wife Ester E Hoskins 77, and son Harry H Hoskins 23. James and Esther had been married 45 years. Esther was the mother of 1 child, living. James was an insurance agent. Harry was an insurance clerk.

James H Hoskins signed his will dated 11 Sep 1900.[8] He named his wife Esther Corilla Hoskins, daughter Juliette Ida Simpson, daughter Henrietta C Underhill, and son James H Hoskins. He further mentioned Mrs Julia Stevens his wife's niece. His wife's portion was on the condition that she never take as a companion her sister Mrs Nancy Fiero. Esther and James were administrators.

James died on 13 Jan 1902 in Auburn, New York.[9]

James was buried in Fort Hill Cemetery, Auburn, Cayuga County, New York with a death date of 1902.[10]

His will was proved in Cayuga County on 28 Jan 1902.[8]
