Julia, daughter of Bartholomew and Kate (née Mahoney) Hourihane, was born on the 17th April 1911 in Castledonovan, County Cork.[1]
In the 1911 census Julia (1 week), Infant, was the single daughter of Batt Hourihane in Garranes North, County Cork.[2]
During the War of Independence, the notorious K Company branch of the Auxiliaries attacked her family's home resulting in a lifelong resentment of the 'The Brits'.[3]
Julia Hourihane of 11 Lower Gardiner Street married Cornelius Ahern, Farm Labourer, of 26 Church Avenue on the 10th October 1937 in Marlborough Street Pro-Catherdral, Dublin; in the presence of John J. Ryan and Ellen O'Regan.[4]
They had five children, including Taoiseach Bertie Ahern.
Julia Ahern died (aged 86) on the 6th April 1998 and was buried in Glasnevin Cemetery, Dublin.[5]

Julia Hourihane is said to be the grandniece of Timothy Burke, the Master of the Dunmanway workhouse. More research is necessary. - Troy-204 15:34, 5 January 2019 (UTC).
