Biography

John was born in 1821. [1] He appeared on the census of 1850 at Wayne, Maine, living with two children (Levi and Hanna) in the residence of his father, John House. His wife was not listed. [2] By time of the 1860 census (August 4), he was in Hardin County, Kentucky as a farm laborer. [3] He lived there until his death, in 1880 or after. In 1880 he resided with his son Levi House. [4] John House died while working as a railroad policeman - shot and killed by unknown assailant(s). He was buried at Sycamore Methodist Church Cemetery, Hardin County, Kentucky. He was also known as Gerry House in tax records of Hardin. [5]
