Note H236From "Howell Family History" by Elaine Waiters:
William was a farmer. In 1822, he removed with his wife and children from New Jersey to Seneca County, NY, where he did much of the carpentry work on his brother Joseph's house. Eleanor and a daughter, Phebe, joined the Canoga Presbyterian Church in Seneca County 3 July 1825.
In 1826, the family removed to York, NY, then to Mt. Morris in 1833. From there, they went to a farm near Jackson, Michigan, where Eleanor died 6 April 1848. William died there 20 March 1867, aged 84. His "Judgement was held in high esteem and he was much sought after by the early pioneers for advice." (Quote from Vernon Andre Kraft.)

William was not found in Jackson county death records which start in 1867 (visit to Jackson county offices in 2003). No other records found there either.
