With only members of the immediate families attending, the wedding took place quietly in the home of Rev. Dr. E. T. Scragg, Saturday morning, of Mona McNally, youngest daughter of Mrs. E. A. Howes and the late Dean Howes of the University of Alberta, and Mr. Frederick Gathercole, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick H. Gathercole.
The bride's frock of dusky rose crepe was made with a high neckline and a yoke in cutwork. Yellow roses and forget-me-nots formed a floral accent. Her hat was a brown Breton sailor.
Reception for about 25 guests was held later at the home of the bride's mother in 125 st.
Mrs. Howes was in navy blue crepe, with matching hat and corsage of Talisman roses. Skirt of her gown had inverted pleats in mauve and violet, and embroidery in the same shades patterned the bodice and the bracelet-length sleeves.
Mrs. Gathercode wore teal-blue sheer, with a wide-brimmed hat to match and a shoulder knot of pink roses.
Gladioli and sweet peas in pastel shades decorated the rooms and graced the bride's table, which was laid in ecru lace and centered by a three-tiered cake.
Dr. and Mrs. J. K. Morrow, of Winnipeg, brother-in-law and sister of the bride, were out-of-town guests for the wedding.
Mr. and Mrs. Gathercode have left on a honeymoon trip to the Pacific coast and will be at home here in mid-September.
For traveling, the bride added to her ensemble a wine-toned topcoat in Cumberland homespun.
