Interestingly, the book "John Hill of Dorchester, Mass., and His Descendants," which was published in 1904, did not say anything further on the identification of John Hill's wife on page 30, but it listed only six known children of John Hill and no further investigation of this family had been made.
The identification of John Hill's wife remains unclear, so it is doubtful that "Mercy Howland" married John Hill. It is necessary to find a good source to support the evidence on identification of his wife's name before the book was published in 1904.
The best source is preferred before 1904 for her identification.
Unknown wife of John Hill is not identical with Mercy Howland who was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Howland because Mercy Howland was mentioned as Mercy Howland in a citation order by Judge Isaac Winslow in 1737 and she was unmarried at that time.
Merging is rejected.
Mercy Howland (Howland-3398) and John Hill's first child Tacy Hill was born in 1727, and they had the children together during their marriage between 1727 and 1739, but the fact is that Mercy Howland (Howland-1752) was not yet married or did not have any children yet because she was mentioned in citation paper in Thomas Howland's probate records as she was called as Mercy Howland in 1737. In fact, nothing mentioned about Mrs. Mercy Hill or John Hill in Thomas Howland's probate records in 1737.
Those records showed that Mercy Howland (Howland-3398) who married John Hill and Mercy Howland (Howland-1752) who was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Howland are separate, different women.
