Obituary

Lapeer: Ira Howland, living a few miles south of Lapeer on Hadley road at what is known as Howland's Corners, died Feb 28, 1898, age 74. Buried Clark cemetery. Large family of prosperous children. Born Rhode Island March 18, 1811, died at home in Elba Twp. At early day moved with parents from R.I. to Penna, from there came to Mich fall of 1833. On April 14, 1840 married Cynthia E. Pemberton. Had 11 children, 6 now living: Andrew I. and Arthur of Lapeer; William of Lapeer Twp; Mrs C. Warner and Mrs Geo. Lyle of Elba; and Ira W. on homestead. (last part March 9 issue).^[4]
