Eliza Ann (Hughes) Cherer (abt.1834-1910) was a professional musician and a member of the Rotal Society of Musicians.

Eliza Ann Hughes, spinster of St Marylebone, daughter of John William Hughes, gentleman, married George Talbot Cherer, musician of St Marylebone, son of Henry Joseph Cherer, commercial agenton 12 December 1865 on Saint Marylebone: Marylebone Road, Westminster, England.[1]

Elisa became a member of the The Royal Society of Musicians of Great Britain on the 6 June 1866 as confirmed in the Society's book, “Members of The Royal Society of Musicians 1738-1984” on Page 36 & 169

  • See the census records. In 1861 there is a George Cherer claiming to be German in Bristol who is a musician. 1881 and 1891 he is a pianoforte tuner and his wife is a must teacher. 1871 he isn't found.
  • 1910 Death of Eliza Ann Cherer b. 1834, aged 76 in Sudbury Suffolk Civil 4A, page 505. Jan quarter.
  • The Royal Society of Female Musicians (RSFM) was established in 1839 when women were not allowed into the Royal Society of Musicians. The two societies merged in 1866 and from that date women were no longer excluded.[8]
