Obituary

Elizabeth "Camille" Salter Elizabeth "Camille" Hughey Salter, beloved wife, mother, grandmother passed away on July 27, 2023, at Southland Nursing Home in Marion, Alabama.

She was born on February 13, 1947, in Sprott, Alabama to the late Marshall and Oda Nichols Hughey. Camille will be remembered for her musical talent, her passion for family and cooking talents.

Camille's musical journey began at a young age. As a music student at Judson College in Marion, Alabama, she mastered her skills and nurtured her love for the piano. Camille dedicated 17 years of her life as the talented pianist for Gulfview United Methodist Church in Panama City Beach, Florida.

She enjoyed traveling, having visited all 50 states and many foreign countries. She especially enjoyed going on cruises with her family. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gary Salter Together they built a foundation of love that extended to their daughter, Camie Jones and son-in-law, Butch of Sprott, Alabama

Camille loved her grandchildren as well and was extremely proud of their accomplishments. Benjamin Jones and his wife Kaitlyn of Auburn, Alabama and Colleen Jones of Sprott, Alabama were the light of Camille's life.

Camille was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Vivian Ivey, Mason Hughey, Willard Hughey, and Carol Hughey.

A visitation will take place on July 29, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Selma Funeral Home located at 5171 Alabama Hwy 22 East in Valley Grande, Alabama.

A funeral service will follow on July 30, 2023, at Ephesus Baptist Church in Sprott, Alabama. The service will begin at 2:00 PM. Rev. John Nicholson will officiate the service.

Burial will follow the funeral service at the Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery.

Brian Hale, Edward Hughey, Tim Hughey, Danny Jennings, Larry Salter, and Terry Singley will serve as Camille's pallbearers.

The Selma Funeral Home in Valley Grande, Alabama is in charge of the final care and arrangements for the Salter Family.
