Note: Philadelphia Inquirer (Philadelphia, PA), Tuesday, May 20, 1902, page 3. DR. A. H. HULSHIZER HAS PASSED AWAY. For Many Years He Has Been Prominent in Professional and Religious Circles in Kensington. Dr. Allen H. Hulshizer, vice president of the Industrial Trust, Title and Savings Company at Front and Laurel streets, and prominent as a physician, died at his home, 1517 North Fifteenth street, yesterday after an illness of over a year. The direct cause of his death was splenic anaemia. He was one of the most widely known physicians in this city. He was well known in religious circles, having been an active member and an elder for more than thirty years in the First Presbyterian Church of Kensington. At the time of his death he was connected with the Oxford Presbyterian Church, at Broad and Oxford streets. Dr. Hulshizer was born in Hughesville, Warren county, New Jersey, fifty-one years ago. He received his preliminary education at Lafayette College. Upon leaving that institution he became principal of the Phillipsburg Grammar School. During his stay at Phillipsburg, he studied medicine under Dr. Shepherd. He then came to this city and entered Jefferson Medical College. He graduated with high honors in 1877. Immediately after his graduation he established himself in this city as a practicing physician. His up-to-date methods and genial personality earned for him the friendship of many, and in a short time he acquired an extensive practice. Dr. Hulshizer was particularly active in secret societies, being identified with the Keystone Commandery, the Blud Lodge, Knights of Templar and the Junior Order of United American Mechanics. Dr. Hulshizer is survived by a widow. 2 2 Philadelphia Inquirer (Philadelphia, PA), Wednesday, May 21, 1902, page 7. HULSHIZER -- On May 19, 1902, Dr. Allen H. Hulshizer, aged 51 years. Funeral services on Friday morning, at 9 o'clock sharp, from 1517 North Fifteenth street. The members of Harmony Lodge, Kensington Chapter, Kensington Commanery and Junior Order American Mechanics are invited. Interment at Riegelsville, Pa.
