Wayne was born in 1918. He was the son of Aldrick Hultgren and Agnes Kulset. He was raised by his father's sister Amanda in Kerkhoven. Wayne went to Carleton College. He enlisted for WWII and was an ensign and assistant skipper of an Allied Forces vessel LCT 589 which was part of the Normandy Invasion on D-Day. He passed away in 1999.
