James Humber was born in 1865 in Barrow Upon Soar District, Leicestershire, England, United Kingdom. He was the son of James Humber and Elizabeth Green. [1][2][3]

In 1881, James Humber (Occupation: Ag. Lab.) was in the household of his father, also James Humber, in Barrow Upon Soar, Leicestershire, England, UK. [5]

James Humber (a batchelor age 25, occupation groom) of Ratcliff on the Wreake, Barrow Upon Soar District, Leicestershire, the son of James Humber (bricklayer) was married to Annie Elizabeth Pridmore (a spinster age 24, a servant) of South Luffenham, Rutland, the daughter of William Pridmore (a gardener), on 30 March 1891 in South Luffenham. [6][7]

In 1891, James Humber (25, groom domestic servant, born in Barrow on Soar, Leicestershire) and his wife, Annie E (24, born in South Luffenham, Rutland) were living in Short Lane, Ratcliffe on the Wreake, Leicestershire, England, United Kingdom. [8]

Note that the county of Rutland does not and never has had the suffix -shire. Familysearch has altered the record transcription to say "Rutlandshire" on the 1891 Census transcription and it is purely and simply incorrect to do so.

In 1901, James Humber (32, servant, a widower, born in Barrow on Soar, Leicestershire) was working as a domestic butler at Ratcliffe House, Earl's Avenue, Folkestone, Kent. [9]

He married Rose Hannah Blanchard in Elham, Kent, England in Q1 of 1902. [10]

In 1911, James Humber (42, married, a hotel waiter born in Barrow Upon Soar, Leicestershire) had been married to Rose (38, born in Exton, Rutland) for 9 years. Street Address: The Leas Hotel Garage, Bouverie Road West, Folkestone, Kent. It appears they have had no children, as the box for that is lined through. [11][12]

This may be a different James Humber:

On 26 Nov 1884, James Humber (age 18 years 1 month) of St Margarets, Leicester attested to the Coldstream Guards, in London. His Regimental Number was 6390. His height was 5 feet eight inches, weight 123 pounds, Chest 34 1/2 inches, Sallow complexion, grey eyes, dark brown hair. No distinctive marks. [13]

James Humber received a pension for his Coldstream Guards service. [14]

James Humber died in Leicester in 1938, age 73 Years. [15]
