Found a story stating Charles went on a trip to LA to participate in cock fighting and went missing 'was never heard from again'.

Charles C Humber and Lettice Hammon married on 14 Sep 1818 in Jefferson, Alabama, United States,[1] The record has been translated as Lettice but the L is more like the written S of the writer. Charles father is named as Robert in his marriage record. [2]
