Biography

Sampson Humphress was born in Appalachia, in Kentucky.

Sampson Knifley Humphress was born on 1 April 1875 in Adair County, Kentucky, son of James Humphress and Sarah Jane Knifley.[1][2]

Sampson (age 23) married Joan F Heumphreys (age 23) on 2 April 1899 at the residence of W S Dudgeon in the Cane Valley community of Adair County, Kentucky.[3]

They were the parents of four children:

Sampson and Joan made their home in Adair County, Kentucky unitl sometime between 1906 and 1910 when they moved their family to Kansas. They resided in Kansas City Missouri in 1930 where he was a retail merchant selling groceries. [5][7]

He was widowed in 1932. In 1940 he lived in Malborough, Washington township, Jackson county Missouri where he was a merchant selling confectioneries.[8]

Sampson died on 9 May 1943 probably in Jackson County, Missouri. He was buried in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Kansas City Missouri.[9]
