ALEXANDER HUMPHREY/HUMPHREYS was born January 31, 1855 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of Samuel Humphrey and Martha Jameson who were both born in Ireland. About 1878 he married Sarah Elizabeth Marsh, daughter of Samuel Betterton Marsh and Charlotte Elizabeth Fosser.

Alexander and Sarah were the parents of six children: Charlotte E. Humphreys 1879-1884; Martha Humphreys 1880-1881; Sarah J. Humphreys 1882-____; Infant, prematurely born, birth and death 21 June 1884; Alexander Humphreys 1885-1926; Samuel Jameson Humphreys 1887-1918.

Death came to Alexander on November 23, 1910 at his home, 1555 South Capitol Street in Philadelphia, from Cirrhosis of the Liver with Endocarditis contributing. He is buried in Mount Moriah Cemetery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; FAG Memorial 137750045
