Note N206. AMASA HUNGERFORD (son of AMASA & ELIZABETH (SEELYE) HUNGERFORD) was born 4 May 1781 in Pownal, Vermont. He came to Jefferson County from Bennington County, Vermont in 1810 and settled at the locality now known as Hungerford Corners southeast of Henderson Bay. He built a frame house in 1817. The Hungerford farm has several times, in the days of the first Jefferson County fairs, taken the first premium as the finest farm in the county.
