Biography

Susan (Huntley) Knapp was born in Appalachia, in New York.

Susan Huntley was born in about 1795, possibly in Colchester, Delaware County, New York, where she grew up. She was the eldest child of Abraham Huntley and Sylvina [Unknown].[1]

Susan married Nathan Smith Knapp, son of Caleb Knapp and Experience Smith. They had nine children.[2]

In 1830, Susan, Nathan and their nine children were living in Blenheim, Schoharie County, New York.[3] They continued living there until at least 1836, when Nathan was named co-administrator of Susan's father's estate in Colchester.[4]

Nathan S. Knapp died in Saugerties, New York at the age of 51, on 4 Apr 1842.[5]

Susan Huntley Knapp died on 5 Apr 1865, possibly in Saugerties, Ulster County, New York, where she was buried in the Mountain View Cemetery.[6]
