Biography

Hannah Hurst was born in about 1817 at Littlemore in Oxfordshire. She was the daughter of John Hurst. ^{[1] [2]}

Thomas Hill, of St Peters in the East, Oxford and Hannah Hurst, of St Mary the Virgin were married at the parish church of St Mary the Virgin in Oxford on 20 January 1847. He witnesses were called Edward Haynes and Eliza Ann Haynes. ^{[3] [1]} (Littlemore, although it was outside the city of Oxford, was in the parish of St Mary the Virgin.)

In 1851 Hannah Hill was living at 9 King Street [now Merton Street] in Oxford with her husband Thomas and their sons. Her age was given as 33, implying a birth date in 1817 or 1818. Her birthplace was given as Littlemore, Oxfordshire. She was a dressmaker. ^[2]

In 1861 Hannah was living at 22 King Street with her husband and their children. Her age was given as 44, implying a birth date in 1816 or 1817. Her birthplace was given as Littlemore, Oxfordshire. ^[4]

In 1871 Hannah was still living at 22 King Street with her husband Thomas and their children. Her age was given as 53, implying a birth date in 1817 or 1818. Her birthplace was given as Littlemore, Oxfordshire. ^[5]

In 1881 Hannah was still living at 22 King Street with her husband and two of their children. Her age was given as 63, implying a birth date in 1817 or 1818. Her birthplace was given as Littlemore, Oxfordshire. ^[6]

In 1891 Hannah was living at 50 Marston Street in east Oxford with her husband Thomas and their son Andrew. Her age was given as 74, implying a birth date in 1816 or 1817. Her birthplace was given as Littlemore, Oxfordshire. ^[7]

Her husband Thomas died at the end of 1891.

Research Notes

Her death does not seem to be registered in Oxford or Headington registration districts. She could be the Hannah Hill whose death, aged 82, was registered in Abingdon registration district in Oct-Dec 1899. ^[8]
