She and her family migrated from England to Australia in 1884, when her father was appointed managing director of the Australasian Steam Navigation Co.[1]
She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Sydney in Sydney, New South Wales.[6]
Sarah was a botanist, public servant and teacher.[1]
She was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 1934.[7]
