Biography

John Ireland was born about 1475, possibly in Wharton, Lancashire, (unsourced); the son of William Ireland and his wife Eleanor Molyneux. ^[1]

1497 he was knighted by George Stanley, 9th. Lord Strange in Scotland, during an expedition lead by Thomas Howard, Earl of Surrey. ^[2]

He married about 1502 to Margaret Stanley, baseborn daughter of James Stanley, Bishop of Ely ^[1]

John Ireland died 29 July 1525, possibly at Prescott (unsourced), Lancashire, seized of the manors of Hutt and Hale, held of the earl of Derby in socage by a rent of two roses, the value being £40 ^[3]
