Biography

John Irish was married to Francis (Fanny) Barter, the mother of Lucy Champion (nee Barter) and Mary Ann Devine (nee Barter), and at time of marriage became their step-father.

John's marriage was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1842 in the Chelsea district.[1]

He was born on 24 October 1815 to parents John and Mary Irish and baptised[2]on 5 November 1815 in Fawley, Hampshire, England[3], and died 21 May 1885 in Caledon, at the house of his step daughter, Mary Ann Devine.[4]

His occupation is listed as Chief Constable.

Francis and John had one child, Martha van Copenhagen (also spelled Coppenhagen) nee Irish.
