Biography

From the book Tapestry:^[1]"Robert, son of Robert and Hagar Jacklin, was born in New London CT on March 31, 1715. In 1745 he purchased land in Ridgefield CT, and it was there that his five children were born. Children of Robert and Anne Jacklin:

• Daniel b 21 Oct 1749
• Benjamiin b 6 May 1752
• Ebenezer b 22 Oct 1757
• Ann b 7 Oct 1759
• Thaddeus b 3 June 1761

Military

"Ebenezer joined the Fifth Connecticut Regiment, led by Ridgefield’s Col. Philip Burr Bradley, fought at Monmouth and was with General Washington at Valley Forge. Like thousands of others in the war, he was stricken by an illness that eventually led to his discharge.... By 1818, infirm and broke, he sought out — and got — a newly-enacted federal soldiers’ pension, aimed at the needy, which helped him until his death in 1824. ... [He is] listed on the Veterans Monument on Main Street."^[2]

Ebenezer Jacklin became a hired hand on farms.
