Military Service

Miles James was awarded the Medal of Honor.
He served with the 46th US Colored Troops during the American Civil War and was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his exemplary actions.[6][7][8]
Medal of Honor Citation
Having had his arm mutilated, making immediate amputation necessary, he loaded and discharged his piece with one hand and urged his men forward; this within 30 yards of the enemy's works.[6]
