Mathurin Lelièvre et Marguerite Jasselin adoptèrent Marguerite Verdon.[1]

(Note: Attention, sur Internet circule la date de décès 17 août 1732. C'est la date d'une Marguerite - sans nom de famille, épouse de Pierre Joubin, ce couple n'a pas laissé d'autre traces.)

Marguerite Jasselin est accusée d'avoir utilisé de la fausse monnaie de carte. De plus, elle et quelques autres dont Jacques Boy auraient volé des vêtements chez un certain Guillaume Boucher. Elle est trouvée coupable le 31 juillet 1704. Elle est condamnée à être fustigée et battue de verges, nue, aux carrefours de la ville de Montréal et à être marquée au fer rouge d'une fleur de lys sur chacune des épaules. Elle sera ensuite bannie de Montréal à perpétuité. Elle va toutefois en appel devant le Conseil supérieur et la sentence est annulée le 30 janvier 1705 [2].

Marguerite Jasselin was born about 1656 to Jean Jasselin and Catherine Gillet of the parish St-Eustache of Paris, Île-de-France, France [3].

Marguerite left France aboard La Nouvelle France in 1670, arriving in Québec July 31, 1670 [4]. She had a dowry of 350 livres [3].

Marguerite had an illegitimate son, Jean Chasselin (Jasselin) born and baptized March 20, 1674 in Québec (Notre-Dame), Canada, Nouvelle-France [5]

Marriages

Marguerite married Mathurin Lelièvre October 31, 1676 in Lachine (Sts-Anges), Canada, Nouvelle-France [6][7]

Marguerite and Mathurin did not have any children, however they did adopt Marie Marguerite Verdon, daughter of Jean Verdon and Marguerite Richer, who was abandoned at a young age [3].

Mathurin passed away in 1683 [3]. Following his death, Marguerite married Nicolas Lemoine January 8, 1684 in Lachine (Sts-Anges), Canada, Nouvelle-France [8][9]

Marguerite and Nicolas had 5 children:

  4. Twin Augustin Lemoyne: baptized October 5, 1688 in Lachine (Sts-Anges), Canada, Nouvelle-France [15] passed away October 25, 1688 in Lachine (Sts-Anges), Canada, Nouvelle-France [16]

Nicolas Lemoine passed away sometime before his daughter Marie Anne's marriage January 30, 1705 [3].

Marguerite remarried to Pierre Soudin dit Latulippe sometime before August 20, 1708. He is listed as her spouse on her death record [3].

Marguerite passed away August 16, 1732 in Montréal (Notre-Dame), Canada, Nouvelle-France [19][20]
