William Jenkins Sr was born approx. 1785-1786 (per census & enlistment) in Virginia to John Jenkins (1750-1832) and Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Huddleston Jenkins (1758-1817).

He married Lucy Farmer (1791-~1860) on 19 Sep 1808 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. They had nine children: Aaron Jenkins (1812-1878) m. Mildred Ann Willis (1815-1878) on 3 Mar 1836; John Jenkins (1815-unk); Martin Farmer Jenkins (1815-unk); Ann Jenkins (1819-1847) m. John Meade Mills (1812-unk) on 27 Dec 1840; William Jenkins Jr (1823-1904) m. Sarah Meade Mills (1830-1923) on 20 Dec 1849; Daniel David Jenkins (1824-1904) m. Elenor "Ellen" Davis (1829-1916) on 21 Dec 1848; Andrew Jackson Jenkins (1826-1913) m. Melissa Mallicia Donovan (1836-1926) on 23 Oct 1852; Robert Eldridge Lee Jenkins (1829-1880) m. Matilda J Porter (1848-1877); Margaret Jane Jenkins (1834-1909);

He enlisted in the Army on 18 Aug 1814 in Salisbury, Pennsylvania; He was a shoemaker at the time.

William passed away approx. 1853 in Audrain County, Missouri.
