She married Joseph Richard Lumley at the Presbyterian Church, Hay, on the 2nd of January, 1881. They had eight children together.[2][3]
Susannah divorced Joseph on the grounds of desertion for more than three years, habitual drunkenness, and cruelty, in 1898 - her divorce papers state that Thomas Quirk, of Wellington NSW, had a man named O'Brien working for him in 1896, and another man who worked with him said that O'Brien's proper name was Lumley and that he'd taken an assumed name because he'd left his wife in Manly.[3][4]
She remarried to John Reed at his home at Dapto, NSW, in 1906. He was 82 years of age.[5] John died in 1914.
Susannah died at Wollongong Hospital on 5 Mar 1918.[6][7] She was buried in the Field of Mars cemetery.[8][9][10]
