Johannah Smith Jennings was born on 8 November 1844 in Grafton Township, Lorain, Ohio, United States, daughter of Schuyler Patterson Jennings (1809–1878) and Polly Victoria Barnett (1814–1892).[1]

Johannah (23) married Martin Van Buren Taylor (31) (born on 26 December 1835 in Grafton, Lorain, Ohio; son of Benjamin Franklin Taylor and Ann (Mennell) Taylor) on 16 November 1867 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States.
Their daughter was Porvalline Barnett Taylor (26 March 1870 – 21 May 1933).
Johannah died on 29 October 1925 in Provo, Utah, Utah, United States, aged 80. She was buried in Levan Cemetery, Levan, Juab County, Utah.[1]
