Biography

Bridget J. Jinks Baker passed away on March 12, 2021, at Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown, NH. She was born in Ireland in 1919, and came to the United States in 1938. Bridget lived in Salem, Massachusetts and worked in the North Shore area for many years. She later moved to Goffstown, New Hampshire.

Bridget was the wife of Chester Baker and the mother of Kathleen and Mary Ellen. She was the daughter of John Jinks and Mary Hyland Jinks, and the sister of Catherine Kerins, Theresa Donaghue, Thomas Jinks, Martin Jinks, John Joe Jinks, Maggie McCarrick and Patrick Jinks.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Ellen, sister-in-law, Noreen Jinks, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bridget continued to be known as “Bea” in Ireland, and “Jo” to many in the United States. She appreciated and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whether by phone, letters, or in person. Bridget/Bea/Jo enjoyed the opportunities she had, over many years, to care for people, young and old. She enjoyed gardening, watching golf, baked scallops, and most of all, anything chocolate.

In her later years, she was comforted by concern, prayers, and good wishes from family and friends. After moving to care facilities, Bridget/Bea/Jo welcomed receiving Holy Communion and spiritual support, in person when possible, and virtually when Covid prevented in-person visitation. The care she has received from those working at The Villager Assisted Living Home, in Goffstown, the Hillsborough County Nursing Home, in Goffstown, and Home Health and Hospice, based in Merrimack, NH, has made a world of difference by providing amazing medical care, emotional support, safety, respect and comfort.
