Biography

Josephine was born in 1858 in Prussia. She is the daughter of Conrad Joecken and Margaret Beuth.

The 1870 census lists POB as Prussia for all members of the family group. This probably refers to the Kingdom of Prussia (German: Königreich Preußen). ^[1]

Her birth record shows she was born in Rheinland, Prussia. ^[2], ^[3]

Josephine's birth surname was consistently mangled in all records found except for death record. Tied to brother thru his birth surname that was never mangled and father Conrad.

1900 US Census lists Josephine as mother of 8 children, 7 living -- all of which are listed in the family group.
