Biography

Eliza Jane Johnson was born on 9 Jan 1866 in Davison, North Carolina, United States. Her parents were Lindsay Johnson and Levena Van.[1]

Eliza Jane Johnson married John Oliver Davis on 16 Feb 1882 in Randolph, North Carolina, USA.[2]

In the 1900 United States census, John and Eliza were living in Lexington, Davidson County, North Carolina with their children John, William F, Herbert C and Richard L.[3]

John Oliver was a miner. The Silver Valley mine in Davidson County had filled up with water. He moved to Altoona, Pennsylvania with three of the children looking for work. His father Woodson had died the year before in Altoona. Woodson was also a miner from Davidson County North Carolina who had traveled to Pennsylvania for work. John Oliver died in 1902 in Altoona.[4]

Eliza had just moved to Pennsylvania to be with her family, when John died. She stayed in Pennsylvania around 10 years or so, then moved back to Lexington, North Carolina. She was living in Lexington when she passed away on 17 Dec 1936.[1][5][4]

It was her wish to be buried beside her husband John in Pennsylvania. So they set her body by train to Pennslyvania after she died. She is buried in South Fork Cemetery, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, USA.[5][4]

Johnson-25674 and Johnson-11927 appear to represent the same person because: Same name. Born same year in same place, married exact same spouse on same date. Had son with same name. Died same year. One gives the correct death location as NC (see sources), other lists PA which is where she was buried but not where she died (as explained in first profile). This is a duplicate profile that can be merged.
