Biography

When Lucy Johnson was born on January 26, 1813, in Wilkinson County, Georgia, her father, James, was 21 and her mother, Jane, was 20. She married Samuel William Hatfield on August 30, 1835, in Wilkinson County, Georgia. They had five children in 12 years. She died on April 4, 1894, in Irwinton, Georgia, having lived a long life of 81 years, and was buried in Wilkinson County, Georgia. Her four sons in the Civi War:

Caleb T. Hatfield: Enlisted on 9/9/1861 as a Private. On 9/9/1861 he mustered into "F" Co. GA 3rd Infantry He died of disease on 3/18/1863

J T. Hatfield Enlisted on 9/9/1861 as a Private. On 9/9/1861 he mustered into "F" Co. GA 3rd Infantry Wounded 8/30/1862 2nd Manassas, VA. Wounded 7/2/1863 Gettysburg, PA. Wounded 7/30/1864 Petersburg, VA He was Surrendered on 4/9/1865 at Appomattox Court House, VA

Richard E. Hatfield Enlisted on 5/3/1862 as a Private. On 5/24/1862 he mustered into "I" Co. GA 57th Infantry. Promotions: * 2nd Sergt 2/15/1863. POW 7/4/1863 Vicksburg, MS. Exchanged 9/15/1863. He was transferred out on 4/9/1865. On 4/9/1865 he transferred into "D" Co. GA 1st Cons Infantry. He was Surrendered on 4/27/1865 at Greensboro, NC. After the War he lived in Wilkinson County, GA. Died Aug. 1909

Samuel A. Hatfield Enlisted on 10/11/1861 as a Private into "G" Co. GA 2nd Inf State Troops. He was Mustered Out on 4/10/1862 On 5/24/1862 he mustered into "I" Co. GA 57th Infantry, POW 7/4/1863 Vicksburg, MS. Exchanged 9/15/1863 He was transferred out on 4/9/1865. On 4/9/1865 he transferred into "D" Co. GA 1st Cons Infantry. He was Surrendered on 4/26/1865 at Greensboro, NC. After the War he lived in Wilkinson County, GA. Died in Mar. 1932
