Biography

• Betty Johnson was born in Washington in 1909, the daughter of Gunnard and Harriet Johnson.

In 1930, the Johnson family lived at 814 32nd Ave., Seattle, Washington. The household included Gunnar W. Johnson, 49, born in Kansas, whose parents were born in Sweden, the manager of a towing company, and not a military veteran. He rented their house for $55 per month, and owned a radio. He was 25 when he first married; his wife, Hattie L., 45, born in California, whose parents were born in Canada, and who was 21 when she first married; their daughters, Florence E., 22, born in Washington; and Betty L., 19, born in Washington. Also living with them was Alida M. Johnson, a boarder, 37, born in Washington, a finisher at a laundry.^[1]

• Betty married Henry E. Schmidt in 1933. She died, a widow, aged 80 in Des Moines, Iowa, and is buried with her husband and other family in Anderson Island Cemetery, Anderson Island, Pierce, Washington. ^[2]
