Obituaries

Charles E. Johnston PERU — Services for Charles E. Johnston, 74, of 50 Highland Place, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnston died at 4:50 p.m. Friday in Dukes Continuing Care Center.

Born Jan. 15, 1920, in Boston, Mass., he was the son of Edward and Ellen Soltany Johnston.

On April 15, 1945, he was married to Mary Ann Worrell, who survives.

Mr. Johnston was a retired pipefitter. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, was a member and past commander of American Legion Glen Owens Post No. 14, and a member of the Peru Moose Lodge, A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he had served during World War II.

Also surviving are one son, Lance, Columbus, Ohio; one daughter, Cindy Murphy, Peru; one sister, Jem Loehn, West Springfield, Mass.; one stepgrandchild; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Officiating at the services will be the Rev. Rande Smith. Burial, with military riles, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. OCT. 7,1994
