Biography

Jane was born in 1831 near Kingston in Upper Canada.[1] She was the daughter of John Johnston and Margaret Connel or Connell, both from Ireland.[1] She married Alexander Hackett.[1][2] She passed away in 1913 in Ashfield Township, near Lucknow village, Huron County, Ontario.[1]

1882, November 29 in West Wawanosh, Ontario, Canada: Marriage of son Joseph Hackett, son of Alexander hacket and Jane Johnstone, married Eliza Jane Henry, daughter of Thomas henry and Eliza Irvine.[2]

Jane Johnston Hackett was born in 1831in Kingston, Frontenac County, Ontario, Canada. She died 7 Aug 1913 (aged 81–82) in Huron County, Ontario, Canada and is buried at Greenhill Cemetery in Lucknow, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. She married Alexander Hackett 1819–1903. Their children included: Margaret Hackett Barber 1854–1940, Andrew Hackett 1856–1903, Joseph Hackett 1858–1948, Anna Eliza Hackett Irvin 1859–1911, Lucinda Hackett 1861–1861, John Johnston Hackett 1862–1935, George Hackett 1866–1875, Ellen L Hackett McNall 1870–1959, Maria Hackett 1874–1875. Inscription: Alexander Hackett died April 18 1903 / Aged 83 years / "Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal" / Also his bel'd wife / Jane Johnston Died Aug 7 1913 / Aged 83 years. Comments: Jane was born in or near Kingston Ontario--possibly on Amherst Island. She died Ashfield Township, near Lucknow village, Huron Co Ontario. She was the daughter of John Johnston and Margaret Connel or Connell, both believed born Co. Down Ireland. Sister of: Agnes Johnston Sanderson, George Johnston and James Johnston.[1]
